details of made up festivals such as Waning moon and moon zenith which no other pagan groups seem to celebrate.
Well, considering the fact that Paganism (or Neo-Paganism to give it its full title) is a relatively new religion/group of religions/whatever, I'm not surprised new ceremonies seem to keep turning up.

I can imagine Wiccans would be very much into lunar focussed rituals, in fact I often think my practice should have a more lunar focus as well.

So in a sense it's all "made up"

Isn't there a really simple resolution to all this? A campsite should be set up near Avebury by the Notional Trust, with cheap rates for a one night stay, in order to encourage its use.

I agree that the overnight camping in the car-park is a pain, but it makes me very uncomfortable to see the way this seems to be spreading into an attack on Paganism at Avebury overall.

In the past I have always had the impression that my money was welcome in the Pub, Restaurant and gift-shos. Maybe I was wrong about that...

Cursuswalker,

I don't think the issue is with Paganism. It seems to be that the anti-social behaviour of a minorit(?) are spoiling it for the serious Pagans. When I see "Pagans" at ancient sites I get the impression that there are numerous pseudo-Pagans present, almost as a trendy hippy type might. For many it'll be a phase they are going through. I don't mean this in a demeaning way towards Pagans, it's just that some of the hangers on are giving Paganism a bad name.

Regards,
TE.
