It's a very sad situation when one cannot laugh at oneself or anyone else. How offended you must get when Little Britain's on TV, or indeed just about any comedy.
But would a similar comment about a Jew be considered acceptable?
I can see both sides of this argument, but I do think a little extra caution might be helpful when cracking this kinda joke. Even if that just means putting "only kidding!" in brackets, to make it clear that it's not a serious prejudice that's being expressed. If people don't know you, the written word makes it difficult to interpret the tone and intent behind a joke. Doesn't hurt to err on the side of diplomacy.
