Enough vague tenuous waffle from me on this. At some point this spring, I shall endeavour to go see Greenlee basin, then this summer get my carcass over the water to see some real bullauns so I can add fuel to the waffle-fire.

Aren't there more stones with bullaun basins on that side of the Irish sea? And if not, it's a fairly peculiar lapse given the shared traditions and communication between the two islands. I'm surprised that there's not loads of them in Wales… or Cornwall… or Cumbria etc. Hmmmm…

Here's one in Scotland - a long link ( http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1930&l=0854b&id=507458396 ) - second row down, second image in. I guess everyone knows where it is ? Because I don't - we could always email Nigel. The groove beside the ballaun is also artificially made, and ther's anothe image - on page two - that seems to be similarly artificially grooved - on that one they're arranged as lozenges!
