Actually, after Fitzcolorado said it seemed disrespectful I started to wonder if ancient peoples used the stone dissolving properties of uric acid to help their carving of such things in the first place....

The question in my mind is just how acidic and disolving is uric acid? I presume it depends on the type of rock.
