Yup, certainly do know what you mean but can't put me finger on it - something to do with the way they move maybe? Their masks are made from wild pear, alder and walnut - wonder what the symbolism behind that is...

Me too. If we knew precisely why they are so powerful and disturbing we'd be looking directly back into our distant past maybe. We carry feelings about certain things in our genes I reckon. But such things have to be connected with survival else why would the trait be passed forward?

So.... perhaps they're reminiscent of people with the plague, best avoided...?
