I realise you two are trying to divert the old boy's attention so he doesn't go off on one but it won't work. Its now eight out of eight. I think that's statistically significant and oughta be understood more widely. Cyberspace is dripping with platitudes about public engagement with archaeology and what a jolly thing it is, which might give the impression that we're talking academics and antiquarians, whereas I've known its largely otherwise for long enough. A bit of solid confirmation is something satisfying, for me at least, although it will be instantly dismissed by those engaged in the fiction.

Does the correlation just go to prove that metal detectorists are stupid people who have a very narrow view of life and no understanding of the impact they have on other people and the world? that would make sense wouldn't it.
