Can't be done IMO, not until the negative is many centuries old.

Broken cross....

The Basques have had this for centuries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basque_cross

Also, the basic form of the swastika is a universal symbol. I've seen a variation on the theme on the back of a modern Colombian coin. I take your point Nigel, though, and I like your little poem!

But is that one, or just coincidentally like one?

The "Camunian rose" motifs include one http://www.rupestre.net/tracce/FARINA.html
.... which is Type A, but the others are different - yet all 4 rely on the same rule, interweaving the groove alternately - yet only one is a swastika, due to the "weaving" being slightly different. So did it sort of accidentally happen?

The Swastika Stone is a dead ringer for Type A so that also IMHO looks more like a "chance" swastika than a designed one (does this make sense?)
