Getting to Cork

close

I'm in Somerset and planning a trip to Cork/Kerry at short notice. What's the best way for me to get there by car? The cheapest and most convenient ferry I can find is Swansea-Cork for £260 return which seems a tad expensive. The 10hr crossing time also seems a little odd considering the short distance. Can I do it for less money/time/hassle? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Maybe check holyhead to rosslare, prob cheaper. More driving though id say rosslare to cork is maybe 2 and half hours. west cork/kerry another 2 hours at least.

I think the shortest ferry is Fishguard/Rosslare, which takes around 6 hours if memory serves me well. Can't remember how much it cost us.

Of course, you've then got the drive to Fishguard and Rosslare-Cork to deal with...

One piece of advice: pay the extra for a cabin so you can get some kip! It's worth it.

Your best bet is to fly in to Cork city and hire a car there, should be quite a bit cheaper. Hire the smallest car you can get because there's not a lot of places with parking!

Anyone have experience of this campsite?
