Hi SL

I'm planning to do the other sites next week sometime, i was pleasantly surprised with the Thurstones though. I did take a look at Toothells above the 63 steps and wasnt convinced on that one but will go back and look when there is less rain!

Peace Tree

p.s THe commas help me remain just that little bit sceptical for now no direspect to you Fella! time for work :)

Toothill is the one in Barrow Bridge, just past 63 steps. Toothells is behind Halliwell Road, about a mile away. That name is an old one, dug up by a late local historian. The very old OS has it as Halliwell Hill and the kids know the place as Tootals Park - there's one 'long barrow' and two 'round barrows', hence the plural in Toothells. The perplexing site is the Burnt Edge stone 'row'. It's very large but has a distinctive small (and unaltered) ring cairn at the eastern end. These sites only seem to come alive with the moon rising and setting.
