Toothill is the one in Barrow Bridge, just past 63 steps. Toothells is behind Halliwell Road, about a mile away. That name is an old one, dug up by a late local historian. The very old OS has it as Halliwell Hill and the kids know the place as Tootals Park - there's one 'long barrow' and two 'round barrows', hence the plural in Toothells. The perplexing site is the Burnt Edge stone 'row'. It's very large but has a distinctive small (and unaltered) ring cairn at the eastern end. These sites only seem to come alive with the moon rising and setting.

I shall most definately have a look at Burnt Edge Mr SL its been on mi list for quite a while! ive been very lazy of late i wish i had half your enthusiasm!
I think the thing that does put me off is posting field notes i always feel i'm going to upset someone when i do post them.

Peace
