We're going to Denmark in a couple of weeks and would like to see as much as possible in addition to the monuments Julian has listed and described in TME. Does anyone know anything about any other sites in Dk?
A google search reveals this useless website: http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/dolmens.html
and on the portal all you get is a crappy, unuseable list of names of sites.
All info gratefully received!

Felix Paturi in his book Prehistoric Heritage says that "The are still 24,000 stone 'dolmen' preserved in Denmark today as well as huge barrows, stone circles and other prehistoric monuments"
24,000 does seem an awful lot of monuments, unfortunately he doesn't provide a gazetteer.
If his figure of 24,000 isn't a typo then I guess you'll be tripping over the buggers.
The Danes call their dolmen 'dysser' and the oldest ones are to be found on Zealand. There's a megalithic cemetary at Tustrup in the county of Randers in East Jutland that's been restored, I've a couple of pictures - it looks beautiful.
Have a good trip

Jane, If your going in a couple of weeks, this may be too late?
My better halfs mother is from Funen( fyn ), and when we go to Denmark, we always travel with anglers world holidays, because they can put together a very reasonable package due to heavy discounts available to them from the tourist board.
I have always taken my fishing rods with me, as it is the best fishing in the world, but next time I will be taking other rods as well.
Watch out for the sign posts pointing to canoodeling , its for canooing, but it always makes me smile, the Danes are fabulous people.
