The only pics I know are in the 1973 newspaper article, the sharply defined craters of the cupmarks looking like the pitmarks of erosion to my mind. They often occur with grooves and at one church were called löwenkratzen ' lion's claws'.

Thanks a lot for your nice pics of the carvings in the walls of St Magnus cathedral in Kirkwall, Orkney.
