That's kind of the point I was trying to make: that each person has to decide themselves how best to balance education, protection, drumming up interest, etc. Whether OTHER folks do something is kind of irrelevant in an ETHICAL discussion. (The thread began with a kind of ethical question about self-censorship.)

If you're talking about purely practical matters, then the question would be whether people use TMA to locate places to loot or destroy. If you think people DO use TMA for those purposes, then don't post precise locations, and explain why. Maybe you have some anecdotal evidence one way or the other. Maybe you feel TMA is so obscure, with so few "strangers" visiting, that posting here wouldn't have an effect. Dunno. Is there any concensus on the usage of, or visitors to, TMA?

Hi Bucky
this is a question I have been thinking about for quite some time now and that is why I brought it to the forum.
My conclusion after this debate is that I will not be posting the precise locations of sites that I feel to be vunerable such as axe flaking floors, small quarries, portable rock art or small upright stones. I will also be looking over my previous posts and editing them where neccessary.
I recently read an amusing and disturbing account concerning two old ladies who were found trying to steal a moorland wheel-head cross and place it in the boot of their car.
