Having read (and paid attention to during my small contribution) the submission guidelines that the Modern Antiquarian does not cover Roman & Dark Age sites etc., could anyone recommend any sites that are as amazingly put together, user-friendly and informative that do?

Many people here have no interest in such matters (see Hob's avatar as an open example). Some people also use the Megalithic Portal (www.megalithic.co.uk) which covers some DA stuff. You'll have to wait and see ShropshireTraveller's recommendations for Roman stuff...

Dark Ages:- The Megalithic Portal http://www.megalithic.co.uk/ has a good collection of Pictish carvings and a growing number of ancient crosses, carved slabs etc. So far we have avoided churches, but will soon be taking in earthworks, settlements etc. Crosses and Pictish carvings have been sorted into site pages and appear on the Megalithic Map. Other Dark Age stuff is awaiting attention but photos prior to proper site write ups can be seen in the Dark Age Gallery.

Roman:- Shropshire Traveller is our Roman enthusiast and he is collecting Roman photos. These are being sorted in the Roman Gallery which will be available soon.

Coverage of Dark Age and Roman sites is intended to be international

Come on over and I'll show you around.

http://www.pastscape.org/homepage/ might be some help. It's the EehAitch, but it's a start.
