For anyone who missed the free Beltane celebration at Thornborough yesterday, it was a very enjoyable hour or so, the Ritual was designed for anyone to watch, it was lighthearted enough to appeal to everyone yet serious enough to make its point. Oliver's recitation of the 25 year anniversary of the Battle of the Beanfield was delivered with feeling and the other solo performers were excellent, too. The Green Man and Lady who provided much of the music were very talented and their costumes were superb. It's my first open Ritual so I've nothing else to compare it to, please forgive any omissions and if you were involved then a big thank-you from me at least for a very enjoyable time.
It made the BBC local news, which can't be bad in publicity terms.

I mistakenly thought George was going to do a short presentation on the current state of Tarmac's planning application and what it will mean for the Sacred Vale,( along the lines of look at that there, and that, and that, it won't be there if the application goes ahead, sort of way which makes it so much more real than looking at a map) but he was very brief and just asked for signatures for the Petition from anyone who hadn't already contributed. He announced the Thornborough Free Festival to be held in Masham on June 4th there's a website with all the details being set up, should be ready in a few days www.thornborough.org
