We went up to a place I have been meaning to visit for a long time, Ballyedmonduff wedge tomb in the Dublin Mountains http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/29 which is in a really special location, obviously the view would have been fantastic without the trees but in its little secluded spot its so peaceful and mysterious. Very difficult to do it justice in a photograph, I dont think I got one good shot of it and may have to drag a tall stepladders up one day when I'm feeling fitter.

Then I went on to Glendruid, I think you have to come back after a few weeks to visit this tomb again just to realise it is so good. The southern side of it was not as overgrown as it had been and this side is just superbly sculpted, the capstone fitting perfectly into a curved 'step' on the long portal stone which has the side profile of an armchair. A real work of art.

Butser Iron Age Farm had their regular Beltane celebration. Fisrt time we'd been. Spectacular, they set fire to a 35 foot high wicker man to the accompaniment of wild drumming. Other crafts were on display, I tried spinning some wool, shan't give up the day job just yet. Fire dancers, barbie, music

As the vast crowd was leaving a few of us sat in the darkened round house where a low fire was glowing. Our group of four supped wine and felt very mellow.
