I agree, but it's down to their role in lore isn't it. When a stone (or anything else for that matter) is associated with the inauguration of a leader and your right to rule has been taken away from you by force then obviously feelings will run high.

Its lijke the Grail and the Holy Rood, the legends are surrounded with mysticism and as such, many are attracted to the quest to find them.

There ae many other factors which obviously I won't post on an open forum, but that lead me to believe that behind the myths and legends, there is some basis of truth to the tales.
