Scots Treasure Hunter Set For 460k Windfall After Digging Up Iron Age Gold

Why I was reading the Daily Record I don't know but the rewards for metal detecting are pretty high.

"Treasure hunter" does conjure up an image of a map with a big X on it though. And possibly a parrot. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

Heh! Well, you said it! :D

Fair play to him for contacting the authorities quickly though. Better than the Roman Helmet bloke. Still would have liked to have seen them recorded in situ in case of contextual information that might have proven useful in order to further our knowledge of our prehistory, but then at least they're going to a museum, who, admittedly, have to raise the money first so they can "have the opportunity to acquire them for preservation and display".
