Tyrebagger, Whitehills & East Aquhorthies all reward getting up early.

Cothiemuir is worth a visit but is difficult to photograph due to being surrounded by trees. Wide angle and remote flashes could be good though. Loudon Wood has more sky available but if you don't use it already I'd recommend the app 'The Photographers Ephemeris' to see where the sun (or moon) is going to be.

Berrybrae is lovely and Bourtie has an epic view across to Bennachie. South Ythsie is something different and Sunhoney as lovely as it sounds.

I keep returning to East Aquhorthies though. It gives good sunset too:

You're right about photographing Cothiemuir, Chris. Two attempts and still not really happy I got the vibe anywhere but in my head.

Agree re Sunhoney and the wonderful South Ythsie; would also add Shieldon, Clune Hill, the Raedykes ring cairn and the Auchquhorthies. To be honest just scratching the surface.
