The present visitor ‘facilities’ will be removed, the A344 will be closed, and the monument given a little more space to itself in the landscape. Not perfect but it’s a start. The A303, with its accompanying distractions are still there but maybe, with a bit of pressure, something can be done to lessen those eventually.

My only gripe is the design of the Visitor Centre itself – the ‘vertical’ emphasis of the structure doesn’t seem to fit in very well with the soft undulating landscape. But hey, it’s more or less in the right place and can/will be replaced eventually.


Brilliant...the quicker it's finished the better as it will keep the masses away from the less exalted but often more interesting and FREE sites that you can visit and research in peace :-)
