The friend I was with actually took me to the Comet stone first Resonox as she thought it was the place to view from, myself just wanting to take the normal 'visitor route'. I can't say I noticed any particular carvings on it just thinking it was part of a possible dolmen and rather more intent on taking in the breathtaking views. Did you pick up on anything yourself? I've mentioned before that I've never been a follower of rock art although appreciating it when obviously observed so it is not something I go out of my way to find. I'll go and wash my mouth out now!!
It's just that the pictures of the stone have distinct(ive?) markings on the moss/lichen and I wondered if this was due to carvings or something as simple as snail trailing....Form is in the eye of the beholder...so I'll let others judge and not taint their imaginations with my thoughts....but what do others (appear to ) see ?

For those who have not been to the Orkney's, well what can I say, put it on the top of your list! I actually went there to take in a three day dog show all the way from Cornwall and it was a hell of a long journey but so well worth it as I'm sure others will agree. We stayed on for a week in pretty grim weather I have to say and we were camping but who cared when there was so many treasures to see!
