If his thesis is that The Sanctuary was then adopted/adapted for a new purpose and belief system then that's a thought, I guess, but it would need to be explained why they selected that for incorporation but not WKLB - and indeed why the author would think that they did.


Indeed it did but of course was in timber post form initially so could easily have been adopted later on when stone was introduced. Didn't The Jersey Minx say something about this figure being built in stages? Maybe the first stage was a timber figure which itself was changed to stone later on? Silbury started with an initial primary mound and the Great Circle had an initial ditch and bank didn't it? What about the Avenues, could they not have initially been in timber? Don't know why the WKLB was not included but would think that the Ridgeway had something to do with the Sanctuary being selected
