A standing stone in Hemlington, that would really be a crackin' find.
I have never come across a reference but would be very interested to hear of the result of your quest.
I remember the early days of Hemlington and can see why any item of antiquity would have been removed. Hemlington has seen some rough old times.
I've just dug out my copy of "Middlesbroughs History in maps" and there's nowt marked on there.
Perhaps someone like Norman Moorsom or the Dorman Museum can help you out on that one.
There is a decent size round barrow 2km from Hemlington at Howe Hill on the Newby to Seamer road.
