Standing stone in Middlesbrough??

I was wondering if anyone else in the Middlesbrough area has ever heard of this, not sure if my memory's tricking me or not.

I read (or at least I think I did anyway!) in a book in Acklam library a few years ago, about there once being a standing stone on Viewly Hill in Hemlington, Middlesbrough.

The book stated that due to vanadlism the stone was removed and placed in a museum - has anyone else heard of this?

I've tried to find the book since, but can't seem to remember which one it was, I'd swear I've read it, but after searching in vain so many times I'm starting to doubt myself.

Le beannachtí,

Barry.
