Thanks to everyone for the replys - I did check TMA first (unsucessfully) before asking the question.

I haven't got any pictures of the stone circle on Dayhouse Lane but will make that a bright-frosty-morning-walk one weekend soon. I did, however, take a picture of the sarsen stones banking up the river Cole which is on my little Hidden Swindon blog (http://swindonia.blogspot.com/).

I gave the matter some further thought and recall that there are 'ornamental' sarsen stones all over that part of Swindon. One rather expensive 1930's residential area near Coate has its own little circus of stones in the middle of the road - can't help wondering where they were taken from.
