Nay...come on George, they were much more advanced than that in them days. Slide-rules and laser-beams, that's how they did it!
Did you ever come across Robin Collyns' Laser Beams from Star Cities, written sometime in the '70s, where he tried telling us exactly that! Twas awesome stuff!
