That's a shame Pete - even when i first visited as a kid in the early eighties, it seemed like an english village that just happened to have a very wierd thing round it - the villagers seemed rather unaware - perplexed even by the fuss. Kind of unselfconcious in a way - and the pub seemed like just a pub. Compared with Stonehenge, it felt like a discovery
But a lot has changed - this site is part of that isn't it? - and JC's book and people who offer tours no? It's regrettable -but how would you stop it? The NT owning it don't seem so bad really - and they'll probably curtail the excesses of the embarassing fringe groups ..
