Avenue remains ?

There has long been a rumour of an avenue of sarsens between Coldrum and Kits Coty, but is there any evidence at all ? I have scoured old maps and found one marked not more than 100m from Coldrum, the odd stone around Holborough, all on land long since industrialised and once even tried to walk what could be considered a 'sensible' route to the Medway, but having no fixed point of destination made it no more than a long walk on a hot day. There are loose sarsens to the South of Coldrum, and to the South of Kits Coty, that could easily be field clearance from slightly higher up the hill in both cases, but little in the way of crop marks or anything else to guide you from either monument makes it almost impossible.

Has anyone else scratched their head over this one, or has it been pretty much consigned to folklore as too large a project to undertake ?
