Nice lighting to be able to see the writing on the stone last week.

The forestry has now been cleared and the cairn completely exposed. Very easy to visit now.
At last the temporary fence surrounding the stone has been removed. Returning the stone to it’s rightful setting in the landscape.
A new fence is currently being constructed around the stone! The grass area has also been reseeded and the hollow at the base of the stone which used to collect a pool, of water has been filled in. Not sure what the long term plans are, but it’s not very pretty at the moment :-(
My favourite image from the eclipse which I forgot to post at the time.
Visited three times in the last week and the cotton grass is looking particularly nice up there at the moment. I’ve posted a few images including this which were captured as part of my ongoing visits to the stone (twitter.com/search?q=%23maenllia2015&src=typd&vertical=default&f=tweets)
The cairn is now completely exposed and visible from the road. Currently inaccessible due to forestry operations but I will get a new image uploaded sometime soon.
A busy morning at the stone with the eclipse today. I’m looking forward to cerrig’s time lapse of the event (it is he who is pictured)
Visited 16/2/15
This may be much more accessible in the future as they are currently starting work clearing the forest here. There were working diggers within 100m of this site creating a new forest clearing and if you use this new track you can get to the cairn without any risk of wet feet.
I took the opportunity today to capture a Google Photosphere so you can have a virtual look around yourselves: google.com/maps/views/view/109208834756377410190/gphoto/6116463123741184482
28/1/15 – I’m visiting this stone probably at least once a week this year as part of a long term photographic study of the location. See my latest images here: twitter.com/search?v=stream&q=%23maenllia2015&src=typd&mode=photos
I have visited this site several times in the last year and is relatively easy to find from the closest road if you have a GPS enabled OS map app for your phone, it is only 100m or so into the forest which is not as dark as it first seems (the map location of the cairn is very accurate despite it being in thick forest).
As previously noted the ground is usually very damp, so appropriate footwear is essential.
