Just came across this image today; it reminded me of a very pleasant morning on the moor 13(!) years ago.

He’s over there.....

The three-stone alignment nearly framing the circle in the background; had to use the central stone to hide my car.....

A small animal’s eye-view of the final approach along the row to this delightfully small cairn-circle.

The word ‘majestic’ just doesn’t do it justice.....

Hard to get it all in the frame but the dusting of snow was a bonus

A curiously ‘dinky’ site; getting a bit tatty these days.

Such a special place.

Such a sweet little spot.

Tough choice between a photo containing the invasively-close information boards or the picnic bench....

Driving through a winter wonderland......ooops, there’s a stone circle!

Amazing how in this light the stone looks like a broken tree-stump

Rough Tor in the bavckground

Not the easiest site to photograph, particularly when it’s dull and overcast.

View through the eastern circle to the western one, the sea faintly visible on the horizon through the gap in the hills.

View from the western circle.

Looking through the circle to White Moss.

Scafell Pike brooding magnificently in the background.

How’s that for fine head of hairy lichen?

A definite argument in favour of restoration (if done appropriately).

Not the easiest circle to photograph on an early-November day.

My favourite place.

The sun came out for a few precious minutes....

Not sure if the tide was coming in or going out but it made for a nice shot.

A new perspective on a familiar setting.
