This is where the gods split the super tough sarsen with a mere flint point, Or maybe it’s naturally occurring flint within the stone, i dunno. ;)

I showed this pic to a friend who knows far more than myself about local geology, I thought flint only formed in the chalk, Not the sarsen too.
Quite an informative piece of info gleaned from such a nondescript piece of rock. ! ;)

2/9/2012 on our way to The Devils Den via the polisher and the cup marked stone.

Looking quite battered, Close up there’s several areas showing evidence of stone splitting at work.

Harestones down “stone circle” with the quad track, WKLB and Silbury.
The trees in the foreground grow alongside the White Horse Trail. :)
