

Site of one of the stone circles , coincidentally marked by a cattle feeder ,also removed .
I wouldn’t normally put up some pics of a possible round house but this one is in such good nick and only three hundred metres from the site of two stone circles and has previously gone un-noticed /recorded .
Not entirely lost , the dimensions given by Coles fit the stones perfectly .The area where they were dumped is “stone free ” with the exception of these anomalous monsters. Story here .

The remains of this stone circle were destroyed in the 1950s. When Coles visited in 1909 there were 9 stones remaining of a possible 10 originally. He failed to locate a second nearby circle, which must have been destroyed previously. It is shown right next to this circle on the 1867 OS map (see link below).
This second circle is not the Broad Moss standing stones, which are also shown on the map.
