I've been here a few times recently, and it appears the bracken has been cut back!
I picked my way to the top of this low mound, and saw what I presumed to be just the tip of the rocky outcrop that I assumed the Puckstone to be. Maybe that was the alleged standing stone?
I was walking along near the Agglestone last weekend, and could see the Puckstone silhouetted against the sky - it looked a LOT more prominent than my previous visit... I'll see if any of my pics show this in any detail.
[visited 24/12/02] Apparently there is a standing stone on top of the possibly natural mound. I located a couple of possibles amongst the bracken, but I may have missed the actual Puckstone due to the bracken. The Agglestone is very obvious to the South.
Unsurprisingly, the Puckstone's alternative name is the Fairy Stone. Heaths can be weird places.
The stone is marked on the 1:25000 map - perhaps juamei missed it because he wasn't in quite the right spot? It's north of the Agglestone, right by a track. It's the same type of rock as the 'holy' stone, but apparently with a scarier reputation.
