A group of four round barrows on open moorland, overlooking the coast above Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. Three barrows form a linear group running NW-SE on the eastern crest of the moor. A fourth barrow stands on its own to the west, set back from the coastal views.

Pastscape descriptions:

Western barrow (NZ 92475 04774)
The monument includes a bowl barrow standing on heathland with open access 100m east of the A171. The mound is 1.25m high and measures 16m across. The south side has been clipped by a trackway for wheeled vehicles and this has damaged a 1m slice of the construction. The barrow has been excavated at some time in the past. The mound is constructed of earth or turf. This mound is larger than is normal in the group of barrows on Low Moor.
Northern of three (NZ 92777 05080)
The monument comprises a bowl barrow on open moorland. It is on a slight eminence and concealed in a clump of gorse bushes. The mound is approximately 12m across and stands 0.5m high.
Central of three (NZ 92880 04933)
The monument comprises a bowl barrow standing on open heathland on the north east fringe of Low Moor. The mound is constructed of earth or turf and stands 0.4m high. It measures 13m across and is circular. There is no trace of a kerb nor a surrounding ditch. The barrow has been excavated in the past and this is evidenced by the dished top in the centre of the mound.
Southern of three (NZ 92923 04885)
The monument comprises a bowl barrow standing on open moorland on the northern fringe of Low Moor. The barrow stands on a slight eminence and is mantled by a screen of gorse bushes. The mound stands 0.5m high and measures 12m across.
