Apparently, from Paul Whitewick’s YT channel, video Why I Am No Longer Welcome HERE, a new American landowner is trying to restrict access to this place and is using security personnel. There may be those who have a sudden urge to visit… only using public rights of way, of course. While they exist.
I see it's open access under the CRoW Act (if you use the Natural Engand map site) and also there's a public footpath. So I suspect they legally won't have a leg to stand on if it's reported to the local council. Fancy having so much money that you can hire security guards to patrol a field.
This is what mobile phones are for... record everything. I've technically 'trespassed' many, many times, simply because there is often no way of knowing who to ask for access... and have only been challenged on a handful of occasions. Yarnbury and Membury come to mind. 'Aggressively' challenged even less - Cumbria and Yorkshire. Most farmers, when they get what you are doing are pretty OK. As Mr Cope said: 'It's a barbed wire fence; which side do you choose?'
I thought this would attract your attention, Robert - I see you’ve been to Fosbury in the past. Am mindful of your current circumstances and hope you ‘get out there’ stomping whenever you can. All best
Thanks, Spencer. Nature has a way of resolving issues, and life goes on. I was thinking about this and a high percentage of Welsh summits are not reached by a public right of way meaning that visitors are 'technically' trespassing. There is an unwritten agreement between decent human landowners and decent human visitors. An intelligent landowner will not antagonise walkers, and vice versa.
In this instance the incident happened on a tarmaced public road.
