Quite an effort and a great deal of care went into making this now denuded little coffin/grave/cist. I think you said 'evocative' in one of your other shots and that's the right word. Even though it's only a small monument in comparison to some of the others here, it speaks volumes about the people who took the trouble to make it and to give its 'owner' 'a decent burial'. Love springs to mind, if that's not being too sentimental.
Yeah, I agree. I think it's safe to suppose these small cairns represented a very localised, pretty insular communities, whereby the great monuments... the Aveburys, Stonehenges, Newgranges and such seem much more of a political power statement.
