The Warebeth area of Stromness parish has its history pushed back into the Neolithic, my suspicions about a knoll in the feld right of the road coming down to the cemetery/broch proved right. In this natural mound archaeologist potter Andrew Appleby has found the remains of a tomb, a situation resembling that of Crantit (thanks to the farmer this will remain undug for future generations).

Found it on Friday. Not the isolated bump below Brinnigar I thought it was but nearer the coast with other mounds (HY23630862). Coming downhill just before you reach the cemetery a track turns right for the beach and the tumulus is in the second field along on the upper side. How I recognised it was the fences of different material (lining up as shown on their photo) as I came up from the beach, you can see at the top the sandy patch where the farmer covered the exposure - not a site even I wanted to film.
