From the SMR at archaeology.ie, updated November, 2021:
Situated on a level landscape and just N of where three old field drains meet. A small circular feature described as ‘Lismahon Moat’ is depicted on the 1836 edition of the OS 6-inch map and it is described similarly on the 1908 edition. This is an oval, flat-topped and grass-covered mound (dims of base 16m E-W; 9m N-S; dims of top 6.5m E-W; 1.5m; H 1.6m at E to 2.2m at W) at the S corner of a field with large silted drains just to the E and W.
Stopping off at Maen Llia. As one should.... but, in my case, rarely gets around to doing. No matter, we are all but fleeting actors upon its stage....
Looks like I’m the first person to visit the site, from TMA, since 2009. Back then 2 out of 3 still stood, sadly it is now 1 standing 2 fallen. Like a few of the nearby sites, gentle restoration comes to mind.
From the confusingly named Dunamuck South standing stones I headed north, only to be confronted by a burn/ditch, taking a run and jump I mis-judged the distance (or the takeoff point was ill judged) and promptly landed in the middle.
Being a nice sunny day I was soon covered in dried mud, perfect for the walk to the dun, a source of another weird story from much earlier in the day.

Looking west, Slios Garbh behind keeping an eye on me.
Round cairn high above where supposed long cairns are, looking west.

An old favourite – and still not that busy, relatively speaking... although it seems word’s getting around. Classic example of a modern ‘marker cairn’ sitting upon an ancient footprint.
National Trust staff have found fossils in a dry stonewall in Staffordshire that date back 340 million years.
