'tis indeed a place of inauguration - i.e. where local kings where crowned etc.

There's quite a lot of them in Ireland, The Hill of Tara, Hill of Uisneach, Navan Fort and Rath Crauchan for instance.

The latter is (and the others for that matter are) nowt more than lumps in the ground now though:
