| Dr Mike Pitts has approached the Avebury parish council to seek permission for a huge excavation of Avebury in 2003. He aims to pick up the remaining fallen stones and excavate the sections that Keiller didn't do in the hope of finding buried stones and re-erecting them also. He has asked for locals and interested visiters to help erect one small stone in the old fashion way (Ie without heavey machinery). There is some dissent within the village but others are willing to go along with it. More meeting with NT & EH are in the pipeline. I will keep you posted as news comes to me...
