I don't see why we should necessarily expect great accuracy ,but ,
when you consider the accuracy of the major monuments they are pretty accurate , but it's not difficult to work out where the sun or moon sets or rises from a particular spot ,two or three children with sticks could do it easily enough .

Then there the huge number of monuments that are clearly aligned towards a general direction e.g. wedge tombs and dolmens , they vary , but for swathes of the continent they stick to a rough ESE or more rarely SW .When you look at the detail they are certainly not aligned on Thom paradigm events or landscape features or the general trend of the local contours but the vast majority are aligned towsrds the part of the sky where the sun can be seen sometime ,but not necessarily where it sets or rises . The northern quarter of the horizon is limited to a very small number .
