I have been fortunate to visit this site - it does have an 'uncomfortable feel' about it. Something Tony Robinson alludes to in the episode if I remember correctly? I also did a 'sneak' visit to the Time Team reconstruction. Just a quick hop over the fence to the field next to Mine Howe.

Yes I've been there as well Carl and was taken down the steps by an archaeo when they were opening up a large trench at the base of the mound. Funnily enough the thing that always springs to mind first is the tube lighting they had wrapped around the hand-railing to the steps.
I didn't feel uncomfortable at all down the bottom just totally in awe of what our ancestors had done.
When I first entered the site I thought the 'hut' on the top of the mound was the workers privy!!! Haaaaaa haaaaaa
