Of course it would. And yet, and yet, when you stood back and looked, all you'd have would be a completely fake circle. With the nickname The Fakery. At least having markers or anything other than sarsens causes people to engage with the site intellectually rather than Disneyfually.

It wouldn't be fake(imo) as the "new" stones would be placed in the excact place where the original stones were so therefore it would be like giving the circle a new lease of life ;)
and we agreed would look better than the concrete posts.
