As with everything in life it is a matter of opinion. I just found Uist to be a pretty barren place although to be fair we only saw it from the main road as we were heading north. We were advised that there are some cracking beaches on the west coast. One evening we did go to a beach on the west coast of North Uist which was very nice but I can't remember the name of it. We call in to see Flora's house - or what's left of it!


I've done both the Orkies and the Hebs and I think a lot depends on how long your stay is and how much you get about in the areas mentioned. I loved them all for all they offered whether it was megaliths, sunny beaches or views. Maybe it's because I was born and raised on an island myself but there is always much more to island life than what first appears and seeking it all out part of the fun.
