This thread just seems to be another excuse to rake it all up again.


I’m really sorry you see it that way tsc. The thread’s intention was not to rake anything up but to highlight (again) the on-going problem of people climbing Silbury without permission, with total disregard to the fences and signage there and, in this case, then posting a video on YouTube that’ll probably encourage others to do the same. We have the same problem with people climbing on other scheduled monuments, or leaving litter at them – often, it has to be said, more in ignorance than out of a wilful intention to damage. That said, it’ll be a sad day indeed if we’re ever silenced into speaking out against such acts – whoever they’re committed by or for whatever reason.

The above comment by ‘pecsaetan’ on the YouTube video is obviously by someone who knows TMA well, bears a grudge against it, JC and some of the contributors here. Sadly, if there’s any raking going on it’s really coming from that direction not this one, and if past form is anything to go by we’ll probably see more of the same.
