Yeah - I was wondering how much light pollution there was around Stonehenge, what with the A303 and Larkhill camp nearby... I've only ever stood outside the fence at night there and can't say I've noticed either way, but as Bucky says, light pollution is a major problem anyway.

And if it IS to be lit up, may I suggest putting it on a rotating base as well, so passers-by get the FULL experience from the comfort of their nice warm cars?

Thanks

Oh you're so cynical!

Isn't the real answer to share Stonehenge? Sometimes an astronomy night, sometimes a Druid night, sometimes a photography night, sometimes a lit up night.... and sometimes a "lit up for paid tourism" night....
After all, it IS jointly owned so who is to say how it should be used at any particular moment (other than it shouldn't be physically damaged?).

PS, as a treat for astronomers the A303 lights (do they have any?) and the Larkhill ones could be switched off late at night - like they are on the M5.
