I saw on another site that English Heritage hadn't confirmed whether they were doing Managed Open Access (free entry where you can enter the henge and touch the stones rather than walking around them as with the normal tours) at Stonehenge for the Spring Equinox so emailed them and got this reply confirming that they are:
"English Heritage is pleased to be offering Managed Open Access for those who wish to celebrate the Spring Equinox peacefully. The celebrations will take place at sunrise (approximately 06:06), however it will only take place if conditions are such as to allow a safe environment for our visitors.
Visitors will be allowed into the Monument when it is considered sufficiently light to ensure safe access. The access will be from 5.30 - 5.45am through to 8.00am when visitors will be asked to vacate the site.
More details will be available at www.english-heritage.org.uk
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions please contact our Customer Services Department on [email protected] or on 0870 333 1181. Thank you for taking the time to contact us."
Anybody thinking of going?
