It's hardly a matter of dispute that it's position is all about location, location, location and I can't see much reason to doubt that it's height was all about view, view, view: It's a bit of a stretch to think that they picked a random height that just enabled them to see over Waden to both Avebury and The Ridgeway. If they didn't care about that they'd have saved themselves a few hundred thousand basketfuls and built it 4 feet lower!
