Even if they weren't, our system is now too geared to short term gain for that sort of project. Still, there are one or two places where socialist and long-term thinking hasn't been crushed by bankers- the National Forest in the Midlands is coming along quietly - a third of 200 square miles will be forested eventually. Midlanders will have calmer natures.
