In the West End of Newcastle one occasionally encounters burnt out wheelchairs and supermarket trolleys. Presumably it's something to do with the Viking custom of sending a deceased warrior out to sea in his burning longboat.

Ah, now it's starting to make sense. It must be the Orkney custom to send the village postie off to his delivery route in the sky by burning him/her with bike, presumably regardless of whether he wants to or not.

How do you explain the burnt out washing machine and I'm sure there was a microwave too?
